How is Cardilol dosed?

Treatment with Carvedilol is a long-term therapy. Treatment should not be stopped abruptly but rather gradually reduced at weekly intervals. This is particularly important in the case of patients with concomitant coronary heart disease.

USUAL ADULT DOSE FOR ANGINA
  • Initial dose: 6.25 mg orally b.i.d. Dosage should then be doubled every 2 weeks to the effective dose needed to stabilize angina and at a dose level tolerated by the patient.
  • Maintenance dose: 6.25mg to 25mg orally b.i.d
FOR CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE

Initial dose: 3.125 mg orally b.i.d for 2 weeks. If tolerated, increase the dosage to 6.25mg orally b.i.d. Dosage should then be doubled every two weeks to the highest level tolerated by the patient with a maximum recommended dose of 25mg b.i.d

FOR HYPERTENSION

Initial dose: 6.25 mg orally b.i.d for 2 weeks. Dosage should then be doubled every 1-2 weeks based on trough blood pressure to the highest level tolerated by the patient with a maximum recommended dose of 25 mg orally b.i.d

Maintenance dose: 6.25 mg to 25 mg orally b.i.d

ALL DISEASE: Maximum dose is 25mg orally b.i.d
